While the dog is in our care we make sure they are as comfortable as possible.  This includes providing them with water and walks outside when necessary.  We strive to ensure each dog’s individual needs are met and their skin and coat are treated with the proper products.  Our bathers and groomers are trained to detect any trouble spots while the dog is in our care.  All of our shampoos and conditioners are salon quality.  We have a variety of shampoos and conditioners that our bathers are trained to use after carefully determining the dog’s needs.  This includes but is not limited to shampoos and conditions with hypoallergenic, all-natural, or medicated options.

We also offer pickup and drop off service for our grooming clients.  Call our office for details.

Did you know.....

If you have an indoor dog, shedding can go on all year! Dogs that spend most of their time outdoors typically shed their undercoat seasonally (spring and fall). Even if your dog does not need a haircut, we have special tools that can remove the dead undercoat that regular brushing won’t. There is also a noticeable difference when high quality products are used. Aside from having dog hair take over your home and your clothes, excessive shedding can be unhealthy for your pet as well. Broken or damaged hair can lead to even more shedding, making the problem noticeably worse.

Let us help and set up your deshedding appointment today!

Ear Infections

Did you know that ear infections are often a result of allergies?  Common signs of an allergy issue include chronic ear infections, digestive and/or skin problems, and excessive shedding.

Dogs can be allergic to many of the same things we can be allergic to such as eggs, soy, nuts, grass, chicken, pollen, dust mites, hay and more.  Many dogs are also allergic to fleas.  In addition, dogs may develop allergies they never had before, later in life.   If your dog is exhibiting any of the symptoms above, it is important to research what may be causing the problem.  Sometimes dogs have multiple allergies making diagnosis difficult.

There  are preventable measures that can be taken if your dog suffers from various allergies. If allergies seem to be environmental in nature, wipe off the paws thoroughly with hypoallergenic baby wipes (or a warm, wet washcloth) after they come in from outdoors.  Often, dogs lick their paws after being outside because of the itchiness that could be caused by an outdoor allergen.  Wiping off the allergen can reduce licking and further irritation.  There are many allergens in the dog’s food.  Again, the more you are informed, the better decisions you will make regarding your dog’s diet.  Specifically, chronic ear problems and excessive shedding/skin problems have been linked to food allergies.

Researching these issues will arm you with the knowledge you need to best care for your dog.  Prevention (when possible) and maintenance are equally important for your dog’s health and your wallet.  Research your veterinarian also.  Make sure you are in charge of your dog’s health, just like your own.
